Celebrating the STORY of a 1966 MGB

Built in March 1966, Chassis G-HN3/87255, Registration OPP 199D

The search for OPP 199D

When the present owner retired he decided to try and find his old love. First port of call was the DVLA web site where he discovered the MGB was still on the road, but now green. So after a lot of fruitless and time-consuming efforts with the DVLA, and despite sterling work by several MG Clubs etc., still no luck. In 2014 he contacted Classic Cars for Sale for advice, telling them the story!

They took the project to heart and agreed to run an article on their website Classic Cars for Sale, they took some hurried notes over the phone (so some of the facts got turned round, original colour etc.) and they did a mock-up photo of how the car would then look.

The article on Classic Cars for Sale website, November 2014

Following that November 2014 article the present owner was contacted by a couple of enthusiasts in early 2015, both John S and Ian Y were willing to try and help him find the car, and one of them – John S, by coincidence owner of a red 1967 MGB with a Bermuda hardtop - came up trumps. The owner of OPP 199D lived in Kent, and we now had his address. A short letter and hold our breath.
Eventually an e-mail was received, non-committal, but after several months of exchanges with the then owner John, the present owner eventually heard from him that he and his wife had decided that they would part with the car.
So without even seeing it an offer was made. John replied that he accepted the offer, and was willing to sell the car.
